I don’t often end up standing in front of a camera to be photographed. Aside from being the one holding the camera, I’m a bit of an introvert, so there aren’t many photographs of me as an adult. But last year, I was asked to photograph some members of my family. Somewhere in the mix of moving people in and out of the groupings, I was asked to take a photo with my mother. After a bit of grumbling, I set up the camera, had my daughter put her finger on the trigger of the tripod-mounted camera, and moved into position.
We had a couple of laughs while I gave instructions from my seated position and ended up with my mouth open when I heard the click of the shutter. It just took a minute, and I didn’t give it much thought.
Now, almost a year later, as I prepare some marketing materials, I find the photo that happened in a moment’s time, but produced my own mother and son photo. So even if you aren’t a fan of being photographed, take a moment to take a portrait, snapshot, or selfie with mom. It will just take a moment, but will create a memory for years to come.
