You've heard the expression: blink and you'll miss it. It's the same with kids. One day you're watching your little girl in gymnastics and the next she's graduating from high school. Those in-between years now a distant memory. The weeks and months and years blur together, and you've missed how quickly your little girl has grown up.
In the age of smartphones and selfies, it's easy to forget the importance of documenting your child's life with a professional portrait. If you're like most people, you are replacing your smartphone every few years, if not sooner. If your lose your phone, drop it, or damage it beyond repair, and your memories are lost.
The memories of your child through the years are something that you will want to remember forever. There is no better way to preserve these memories than with a professional portrait session of your child with heirloom quality art work for your walls.
By the time Hannah and Hayden came in for a session, we had already planned the colors and look of their session. Even though they were a few years apart, it was important to photograph them together for a portrait of two sisters; complete with attitude.
Each was photographed individually in front of the cocoa backdrop and had a great fashion look.
The second backdrop had darker brown tones with a pattern that added a bit of sophistication. After an outfit change, I photographed the girls with the look in keeping with the seriousness of their expressions.
For their final outfit, the girls wore white. I paired the brighter outfits with a patterned-green backdrop. Again, the girls have a completely different look than before. Hannah loose hair and embroidered dress give her a boho chic look. The look has a more free-spirit kind of feeling to it and shows another side of Hannah's personality.
Hayden wore an over-sized white wool sweatshirt paired with jeans. It's a great fashion look that shows Hayden's style but also shows her young age.
In all there were 3 different looks for each of the girls. Each of the setups shared a different aspect of their personalities.
In the short time after the girls came in for their session, while I was working on retouching the images, Hayden had another birthday. It was a reminder of the importance of preserving these in-between years with a professional portrait.
