Just wanted to share a success story about a model portfolio session from a few months ago.
Aubree needed some photos for the 2019 IMTA (International Modeling & Talent Association) competition. I had photographed Aubree the year before and was thrilled to be able to work with her again to update her portfolio. IMTA had certain requirements for submissions, so we worked with those goals in mind. We focused on 3 looks: jeans/casual, glamour, and fashion.
When Aubree showed up for her shoot, she came prepared. There was an assortment of shoes and a broad selection of outfits for her to pick from. There was a stack of tops. A stack of jackets. A stack of jeans. A stack of dresses. And a row of shoes: some with heals and some with laces.
We started with the jeans. The light blue ripped jeans with matching hooded denim jacket. It was a nice casual look that worked well for a teen or young adult audience.
A quick outfit change and Aubree was in a black leather jacket that we paired up with some black combat boots. A bit edgier, but also more grown up.
We also needed to get a headshot of Aubree so I propped up a black backdrop. I wanted the focus to be squarely on Aubree's face, and the black backdrop removed any distractions.
Aubree also wore two different dresses that were photographed in front of two different backdrops. Both were nice, but I really liked this black one with white stripes. The white vertical stripes on either side of the dress created a great outline of the body and showed off Aubree's hourglass figure.
Aubrey also combined a white with black ringer t-shirt with matching stripped pants and heels. Another great fashion look. I decided to retouch and tone this series of images to retain the moodiness to fit Aubrey's posing and expression.
Aubree and her mom Michele went through the difficult process of picking out their favorites to submit to IMTA, and I was able to breathe a sigh of excited relief at being able to be a part of Aubree's journey.
Now for a bit about IMTA. The International Model and Talent Association hosts events where top models, talent agents, managers and casting directors come together. Models can showcase their skills and gain fantastic experience about the modeling world. Models also have the opportunity to meet with agents and build relationships to move forward in their modeling careers. The conventions are a week-long experience full of activity, education, and fantastic opportunities. The convention includes competitions in different categories where international agents act as judges, but also use the setting to scout for new talent.
Michele was kind enough to share some pictures from Aubree's competition.
So here's how it went for Aubree:
1. 17 call backs for modeling.
2. 1 call back for acting (she didn't even audition in the acting category, but the judges saw something special and called her back in this category).
3. 6 total awards; one in each category that she participated in.
Next step for Aubree is to start meeting agents and see where this adventure takes her.
What an exciting conclusion to Aubree's (and Michele's) hard work and preparation for IMTA. If you're getting into modeling and need to build your portfolio, I would love to work with you. Contact me for more information.
